What a departure board actually carries.

A departure board is a structured table, not a poster. Every row answers a passenger's two questions — when and where — in a glanceable grid. Each entry carries the same minimum set of fields. On a high-pixel-density LCD (up to 4K) those columns render as crisp mixed-case text with line logos, pictograms and multilingual labels — the density a busy interchange needs.

05 LCD or legacy dot-matrix for a departure board?

We build the LCD hardware layer. An LCD renders the dense, multilingual, icon-rich layouts a modern PIDS needs — up to 4K, full colour, arbitrary fonts. Legacy dot-matrix or flip-disc boards use a fixed 5×7 / 7×9 dot font with a limited glyph set; they still appear in older refurbishments but cannot match that density. Your PIS controller drives the content either way.

06 What happens if the real-time feed drops?

Good practice is to freeze the last-known state with a timestamp rather than blank the screen or leave a stale "on time" glowing. The failover logic lives in your PIS controller; the display simply shows exactly what it is told, brightly and without lag, over open HDMI / LAN / serial.
