A ceiling-mount display is a dual-face screen suspended from the roof spine of a carriage. It serves passengers on both sides of the saloon simultaneously — showing route maps, next-stop information, advertising and service alerts. Unlike door-header units that face one direction, ceiling displays are visible from any seat in the carriage.

Sizes range from 15" to 32"01, with slim profiles under 50 mm02 (competitive builds reach about 28–30 mm) that fit within the vehicle's kinematic envelope03. Single-sided builds face the aisle; double-sided builds serve both rows of seats from one mounting point. Each face can carry independent content — service information on one side, advertising on the other, or mirrored route maps.

Built for overhead duty

Ceiling displays face different constraints than door headers — gravity, vibration from above, and dual viewing angles. As body-mounted equipment they are qualified to IEC 61373 Category 1 (lower severity than bogie- or axle-mounted gear), and fire behavior is specified to EN 45545-204 (HL2 typical, HL3 for metro / long-tunnel operation).

Ceiling and door-header:
different jobs

A door-header display is the decision point at the door — it answers "is this my stop" in the second a passenger boards or alights. A ceiling display covers the whole carriage between those moments, so a seated or mid-carriage passenger stays informed without walking to the door. High-capacity metro and commuter lines often run both: the header for the decision, the ceiling for the journey.

The ceiling's longer format also carries advertising and infotainment alongside service information — a passenger aid and a revenue channel in one footprint.

The unit speaks Ethernet, LVDS, and VGA to your existing PIS controller and CMS. We supply the screen and the ruggedization; you keep your software, your content, and your roadmap. RisingStar is a hardware OEM/ODM, not a PIS systems integrator. 01 What's the difference between single and dual-face?

Single-face displays one side of the saloon; dual-face shows content on both sides from one mount point. Choose based on your seating layout and content strategy.

02 Will these retrofit into existing vehicles?

Yes. Slim profiles and standard mounting brackets fit existing roof-spine installations. Send us the casing drawing and we confirm fit.

03 Do you supply the passenger information software?

No. We supply the display hardware. The unit connects to your existing PIS controller through open interfaces.

04 What rail certifications apply?

Designed and type-tested to EN 50155, EN 45545-2 and IEC 61373 (Category 1); CE / RoHS / FCC and ISO 9001 certified. Vehicle-level type approval is completed by the system integrator.

05 What about warranty and working life?

Standard warranty is 3 years, backed by long-cycle after-sales: we repair by module or board rather than replacing the whole unit. Working life depends on several factors — the LED backlight, the panel, driver electronics and the duty environment among them; the backlight is rated up to 50,000 h (L50), roughly 5.7 years at 24/7. Our units are rated to an MTBF of 50,000 hours, based on our reliability test data.
