Wayfinding and self-service terminals are the interactive point of the station — where a first-time visitor finds their way, where a commuter buys a ticket, and where operators earn advertising revenue from the same footprint. RisingStar supplies the touch display hardware layer only. We do not build navigation, payment, or CMS software — our screens are open to your stack.

Engineering

Built for the terminal environment.

All three terminal types share one core technology: projected capacitive (PCAP) multi-touch. A 10-point sensor reads fingers, gloved hands and styluses through a glass cover, so a commuter in winter gloves and a child with a damp fingertip both register a tap. The sensor sits behind the cover glass in a glass-on-glass (G+G) structure — tougher and optically clearer than film alternatives.

Optical bonding fuses the cover glass to the LCD panel, eliminating the air gap that fogs in humidity swings and adds parallax on a touch surface. Anti-glare (AG) etching, anti-reflection (AR) and anti-fingerprint (AF) surface treatments cut glare and smudges; rated surface hardness sits above 6H with light transmittance at or above 85%. Waterproof firmware discriminates a real touch from a water droplet, so rain on an outdoor totem does not trigger phantom taps. None of this is our software — it is the touch controller we tune for transit duty.

01 Do the screens work with wet hands or gloves?

Yes. The PCAP layer reads gloved hands, bare fingers and styluses, and waterproof firmware distinguishes a real touch from a water droplet — so rain on an outdoor totem or winter gloves in a concourse both register. All models are 10-point multi-touch.

02 Are the terminals accessible and WCAG compliant?

Public terminals are in scope of the European Accessibility Act (mandatory 28 June 2025), whose baseline is EN 301 549 referencing WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA; in the US, ADA Title II/III and Section 508 apply, with reach limits of 48 in forward / 54 in side. We design the hardware to support these — high-contrast modes, scalable fonts, glove/wet touch — while audio annunciation and Braille plates sit with your software. Certification status is confirmed on request.

03 Do you provide the wayfinding or navigation software?

No. We build the touch display hardware only. Navigation, payment and content management are your software stack — we expose HDMI, LAN, USB and an open SDK/API so any PIS, wayfinding or fare-collection application runs on our screens without lock-in. We never bundle a CMS or a navigation engine.

04 How bright are the outdoor totems?

Outdoor totems run 2,500–5,000 nits with automatic dimming tied to ambient light. Every model is capped at the 5,000-nit ceiling — no exception. Auto-dimming also extends backlight life and cuts night-time energy.

05 What about payment certification on TVM screens?

PCI/EMV and other payment certifications belong to the payment peripheral, not to our display. We supply the IK10 vandal-resistant, glove-capable PCAP touch panel and the open interface it plugs into; the fare-collection certification is the payment module's, confirmed by its own vendor. Our screen is specified to survive the payment-terminal environment, not to claim the payment licence.

06 What is the warranty and service life?

Standard warranty is 3 years, backed by long-cycle after-sales: wherever a unit fails, we repair it with a swapped board or module. Working life is shaped by several factors — backlight, touch controller, power supply and duty environment — not a single component; backlights are rated to about 50,000 hours to half brightness (L50). Our units are rated to an MTBF of 50,000 hours, based on our reliability test data; the figure for your configuration is on the datasheet rather than a category-average assumption.
